About Greylock

|
Greylock is the Northeast's preeminent residential summer sports camp for boys. Founded in 1916, it is one of the oldest privately owned, all-boys camps in the nation. The campus sits on 300 acres of land, high in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts. Greylock offers a structured program that combines instruction and game play in all major land sports, waterfront activities, nature/adventure, and the arts. For nearly one hundred summers, we have stressed the importance of citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play, and friendship.
We strive to make Greylock a safe place where children feel comfortable,
have fun, and are encouraged to become self-reliant, respectful, and
positive; where they develop their bodies through athletic activities
and their minds through new experiences. Above all, we aspire to teach,
through inspirational example and practical guidance, the value of sportsmanship,
effort, and consideration for others. The Greylock program is designed for active, healthy boys who wish
to spend the summer improving their skills in sports and non-athletic
areas while having lots of fun and making life-long friends. Instruction,
both athletic and non-athletic, is the foundation of the daily program.
Campers
receive excellent instruction in a wide variety of activities over the
course of the summer. Areas of focus include all major land sports,
extensive waterfront activities, an exciting outdoor adventure program,
and a popular art department. There are also opportunities for each
camper to explore activities of his choosing, and to seek out extra
time and instruction in a particular area of interest. More options
and flexibility are given to campers as they grow older. Greylock employs a large staff, more than half of whom are returnees from previous summers or former campers. Our residential and teaching staff is second to none in camping. We hire mature, experienced, fun adults in our middle-management positions. We have a superb record of holding onto staff: last summer, of our top fifty staff positions, all but three were held by camping professionals who had previous Greylock experience. |
